Wicked Wednesdays: FREE High-Res Moss and Lichen Textures

18 May

This week’s textures are all of moss and lichen, commonly found on rocks in damp places like the bush or a shady cliff face – which exactly where we found all six textures here. They’re of different types of moss and lichen… basically as many different types as we could find without jumping a plane to the Amazon.

Feature Bike: Peter’s ‘RATZ’ Triumph Motorcycle

17 May

Here’s a selection of images from a recent photoshoot we did for Wild Aussie Choppers magazine in Australia, on Peter’s ‘RATZ’ Triumph/BSA motorcycle. The shots were taken up in the Blue Mountains of NSW and culminated in a seven page feature spread.

You can download free 1280res desktop wallpaper version of these images and more by clicking on the thumbnails above and below. Enjoy! CLICK HERE to view the entire gallery.

Static shots all used three Canon Speedlite flashes: 2x 430EXII and a single 580EXII. All the static full-bike shots used the three flashes, bare and on full power with the two 430EXIIs lighting the side of the bike and the 580EXII through a snoot onto the tyre like a rim light. Triggered with Cactus V4s.

13 May

Here is a small selection of images taken from a shoot we did recently for BAGGED magazine in Australia. It’s coming out in issue 8, due any day now. The shots were taken in Newcastle, NSW Australia in a mozzie-infested industrial area. As soon as the sun went down we were attacked!

There’s very minimal artificial lighting in these shots. In fact, only one flash was used on the back end to fill in some light in a couple of the shots. The rest are all using ambient light in the late afternoon with some wonderful cloud formations. Most of the post processing is done in Lightroom, including any filtering in the sky

You can download FREE 1280res desktop wallpapers of these images by clicking on them. Enjoy and be sure to pick up the next issue of BAGGED to check out the full shoot. CLICK HERE to view the gallery.

Wicked Wednesdays: FREE High-Res Wood Textures

11 May

Someone told me recently that wood/timber texture images were a big-ticket item these days… so, we thought we should go ahead and bring you six more! Well, OK, so the first part is a lie. No one told us timber textures were in demand. But, our web traffic indicates there are plenty of you out there who are looking for them.

So, this week we bring you a collection of six new wood texture images in high resolution. They include bark, trunks, roots and even an old weathered chair with cracking paint.

As always, Hosking Industries high-resolution texture images are FREE for personal and commercial use. However, you may not resell, repackage or redistribute these textures or generally pass them off as your own for monetary gain etc. Use them in your design projects, but don’t use them for commercial gain.

40,000 Visitors. Thanks for Coming!

03 May

We reached 40,000 hits the other day, so I thought I should post something to mark the occasion. By 40,000, we mean visitors, unique hits. Not page views.

A huge thanks to everyone that’s visited our site because you were actively seeking us out, and even if Google helped you find us. Either way, it’s nice to have a decent flow of traffic despite not having enough time in the day to post more regular content.

I’m pretty sure I said I’d try and post more regularly when we last celebrated a traffic milestone, but the workload has simply prevented us from actioning any new web development; even though I REALLY want to make some changes around here and post more often.

So, thanks again and hopefully it won’t be long until we celebrate 50,000.
