It isn’t every day you get the chance to shoot the cover of a national magazine and we’re very happy to show you a handful of images from our recent photo shoot on Steve Trappell’s beautiful 1970 HG and 1969 HT GTS Monaros. We shot them together in Steve’s hometown of Newcastle, NSW and they appear on the cover of the July 2012 issue of Australian Classic Car magazine.
Steve had only recently completed an extensive and perfect restoration on the brown HT GTS when we photographed it, while the silver HG Monaro is still awaiting its turn under the knife and wears its share of patina from years of love and use. Thanks to the horrid damp conditions over the preceding summer, it took us a good couple of months to actually get these two in front of the lens.
While conditions weren’t ideal, we reckon the shots came out pretty nicely. In addition to the full colour versions you see pictured here, we also supplied the magazine with some washed-out, faded and rather vintage-looking options which they ended up using; including for the cover itself and the centre poster. As always, we’ve got a selection of desktop wallpaper sized images for you to view and download on our Flickr page and strobist fans can read our lighting information there, too.
