Run Out Sale: All Remaining Eyetride Shirt Stock On Sale NOW

23 Nov

Most of you probably have no clue as to who or what an ‘Eyetride’ is. For the uninitiated, Eyetride (pronounced eye-tried) was a clothing company created by Hosking Industries founder Ben Hosking and family member Jane Hosking in the early 2000s. The business designed and sold funny shirts back when that business model was still something relatively new. Fast forward to today and only several dozen shirts remain; the business since closed down due to other business interests.

So basically, we’ve got four boxes of shirts stacked in the garage and they need to go! All remaining stock is now on eBay for below cost. CLICK HERE to check out the designs and grab one for yourself today!

We’re talking $12 a shirt here. All printed on quality Gildan 100% cotton tees, with all prints boasting rubberised inks that offer greater stretch and longevity without cracking. See these designs and more HERE.

Feature Car: Ross’ HQ Holden One Tonner

13 Nov

We photographed Ross’ tough, nitrous-injected HQ Holden one-tonner utility on the Northern Beaches of Sydney back in 2011. It’s powered by a Holden V8 with a big direct-port nitrous setup that you just know gives this ute a big kick in the pants. It’s full of all the tough gear;  right down to the utilitarian Kirkey race seat that must be hell to endure when cruising on the street.

We’ve got six FREE desktop wallpaper images for you to download and as always, you’ll find our photos on Flickr complete with EXIF data and lighting information. CLICK HERE to view the entire gallery or on the thumbnails below:

Feature Car: Craig Lockhart’s 1964 EH Holden “Crewman”

09 Nov

Now for something a little different! Craig Lockhart owns what is probably the ONLY vehicle of its kind in the world in the form of this 1964 EH Holden ute. It boasts a stretched and massaged phantom body style, resembling the much more modern Crewman that Holden released with the advent of the VY model some years ago. You can read all about it and see some build shots in issue 50 of Brute Utes magazine, which is due to go on sale any day now.

It’s powered by a VT 304ci injected 5L V8 engine and features custom interior trim as well as immense detail no matter where you look; including under the car where everything has been painted and smoothed to a high sheen. Even the stainless exhaust system has been polished. Be sure to check it out when the magazine goes on sale.

As always, you’ll find our photos on Flickr complete with EXIF data and lighting information, however only the detail shots used any artificial lighting. The exterior shots were all shot using nothing but Mother Nature’s wonderful lighting from above. Sorry to all the strobist fans out there. CD Review: Shinobi – Against the Brave

06 Nov

Originally published at lifemusicmedia.com:

Shinobi - Against the BraveIf you were to simply cast your assumption about Sydney’s Shinobi on their biography, you’d probably be left thinking they were some ham-fisted, second-rate, sports-oriented rock band. With an ex-first grade NRL player as a songwriter and front man, you’d be forgiven for cringing at the thought of previous sports personalities getting behind the microphone; however Shinobi are thankfully far more than some passing interest of a former State of origin player. You need only hit play on their debut long play, ‘Against the Brave’, to figure it out.

Bristling with powerful melodies and heavily laden with catchy hooks, ‘Against the Brave’ is a strong release. The bio points to bands like the Foo Fighters, Shihad and silverchair for stylistic similarities and it probably isn’t that far off. The more powerful rock moments are also reminiscent of post-‘Betty’ Helmet at times. We wouldn’t be surprised if Prong had a place on the band’s playlist as well: not so much in terms of the metallic elements, but in some of the phrasing of the lyrics, such as in the track ‘Leeches’.

‘Against the Brave’ boasts more than one volume, thanks to pumping rock anthems like the ‘Stitches’, ‘Penelope’ and the title track, offset by more delicate moments with ‘The Finding’ and ‘Something’ getting a little more introspective sounding.

CD Review: Paradise Found – Foundations

06 Nov

Originally published at lifemusicmedia.com:

Paradise Found - FoundationsHailing from Newcastle, Paradise Found offer the listener a mix of hardcore-influenced vocals with down-tuned riffing that combines equal parts hardcore and circle pit-inducing breakdowns. According to the band’s bio, Paradise Found has been credited with having one of ‘the highest energy live shows in Newcastle to date’, which is a big call; however, as far as the local Newcastle scene goes in recent years, that could be a perfectly believable statement.

‘Foundations’ is the band’s new debut EP and it’s full to the brim with concise, infectious slabs of brutality that remain totally hummable thanks to their strong guitar melodies. From the opening strains of ‘Northern Lights’ to the closing gang vocal of ‘End of the Story’, this EP will have you either shouting the words or humming to the guitars – no question.

With plans for a full-length album in 2013, you can expect big things from this Newcastle quintet. Their unique mix of influences will no doubt continue to see plenty of bruised and bloodied bodies in mosh pits up and down the east coast in the coming years. Keep an eye out.

Feature Car: Col’s HR Holden Ute

02 Nov

We had the pleasure of shooting Col’s incredible HR Holden utility early in 2011. It hasn’t seen the light of day in print yet, but we wanted to show you just how nice this old ute is. You can regularly see Col and the HR on show at car shows all over the greater Sydney area, including All Holden Day each year.

Powered by a nicely dressed small-block Chevrolet V8, the ute features a sweet red leather trim, large diameter billet rims and die-straight bodywork. Just to make things even better, Col says he’s now turning this same level of attention to another old Holden. Can’t wait to see that!

As always, you’ll find our photos on Flickr complete with EXIF data and lighting information, however only the detail shots used any artificial lighting. The exterior shots were all shot using nothing but Mother Nature’s wonderful lighting from above in the early morning. Sorry to all the strobist fans out there.
