Feature Bike: Evolution’s Custom 1973 Iron Head Sportster

07 Jan

We shot this gorgeous custom 1973 Harley Davidson Iron Head Sportster for a new client, Heavy Duty magazine. You can see the entire feature and accompanying story in issue 126, on-sale now.

Built by Evolution Custom Industries – check out their supercharged WL that we shot in 2012 HERE – the bike features a custom rigid rear end and that striking none-blacker appearance that’s highlighted by all the brass fittings and discoloured stainless exhaust (done that way on purpose, naturally).

As always, we’ve got a series of FREE desktop wallpaper images for you to enjoy and strobist fans will find our lighting information on each image’s caption, too. Simply CLICK HERE to visit our Flickr page where all the goodies lay in wait for your visit.

Cruise for Charity 9 – Sydney: Sunday September 16, 2012

17 Sep

Here’s a few quick pics from this year’s phenomenal Cruise for Charity event in Sydney, hosted by Street Commodores magazine. This was the event’s ninth year.

This is an event I started when working for the magazine back in 2004 and it has since gone onto become a national event with cruises taking place in each state to raise money for worthwhile charities. I believe the total raised over the last nine years has now surpassed $1,000,000. A big congratulations and thanks to Ellie Thorley from Bubblegum Events for her tireless efforts to take the formula we set over 6 years and run with it. She’s done an incredible job!

This year’s Sydney cruise attracted more than 1000 Holden Commodores from all over the state, with some traveling from interstate. They all converged upon the St Ives Showgrounds, easily filling the large grassed oval and the surrounding areas. Around that were trade stands, ex-magazine feature cars and other Commodore-related activities.

Enjoy the pics.

Were You Here? 2012 All Holden Day Panorama

06 Aug

We made sure to get out to the 2012 NSW All Holden Day in Clarendon, NSW yesterday – Sunday August 5 – to shoot the event for Xtreme Holdens and Custom Utes magazines. While we were there we thought we’d snap a few shots to stitch together and make a nice high-resolution panorama of the main show and shine area.

The NSW All Holden Day regularly attracts well over 700 classic and modified Holdens to the area, as well as a large swap meet and plenty of traders.

Can you see yourself or your car in this image? Make sure to CLICK HERE or on the thumbnail below and view it in high-resolution for the best view!

2000 Images on Flickr!

19 Sep

We flew past the 2000 image mark on our Flickr page this morning with the uploading of the Suicide Silence photos. We like to believe that all 2022 of them are top quality and represent the quality of our work well, but you should be the judge. If you’ve got a spare few minutes, why not take a bit of a tour through our many ‘image sets’ and collections.

60,000 Visits! Thanks for Coming

05 Aug

60,000 Visits!Feels like just yesterday that we counted up 50,000 unique visitors to our humble little site. Thankfully the daily web traffic has been steadily climbing and the distance between milestones like this are coming around sooner and sooner. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to come and visit out website since last time heralded similar news. Your patronage is always appreciated and we hope you’re getting something out of each visit.

We’ve been uploading a lot of our recently published photo shoots lately, which has created a lot of extra traffic to the site and to our Flickr page (visit it HERE).  You can bet we’ll have plenty more of this coming up over the next months and years. So keep coming back!

Cheers,
Hosking Industries

50,000 Visits and Counting

21 Jun

Just a quick one to thank everyone who has passed through our virtual, on-line doors since we went live with HoskingIndustries.com.au. We hit 50,000 unique visitors last night, which we feel is something to celebrate. Not sure what that equates to in page hits, views and the such. We reckon the number of visitors is a better representation.

We’ve probably been a little quiet around here lately. The work levels in the office have been phenomenal which has prevented us from posting anything but the bare minimum – which happily means Wicked Wednesdays FREE textures and samples from our feature car shoots, usually! – plus Ben is currently undertaking a course in teaching. Hopefully before the year is out we’ll have started posting juicy news tidbits and mind-pour rants like we did in the beginning.

Anyway, thanks again for stopping by and have a beer for us!

40,000 Visitors. Thanks for Coming!

03 May

We reached 40,000 hits the other day, so I thought I should post something to mark the occasion. By 40,000, we mean visitors, unique hits. Not page views.

A huge thanks to everyone that’s visited our site because you were actively seeking us out, and even if Google helped you find us. Either way, it’s nice to have a decent flow of traffic despite not having enough time in the day to post more regular content.

I’m pretty sure I said I’d try and post more regularly when we last celebrated a traffic milestone, but the workload has simply prevented us from actioning any new web development; even though I REALLY want to make some changes around here and post more often.

So, thanks again and hopefully it won’t be long until we celebrate 50,000.

Tech Feature: Street Machine – May 2011 Issue

20 Apr

The latest issue of Street Machine magazine has just gone on sale around the country featuring our technical feature on exhaust system fitment. We followed along as Liverpool Exhaust fit up a new mild steel system on a sweet old Holden Brougham with a new small-block Chev’, trans’ and rebuilt diff’.

There’s a ton of great info in the story and the entire magazine is bursting with great cars, event coverage and other fun stuff. So, grab a copy from your local newsagency, supermarket or petrol station. You can see a larger version of the cover art by clicking HERE.

Design: Hosking Industries’ New Business Cards

Hosking Industries' Business Card

Hosking Industries' Business Card

This is the design of Hosking Industries’ new business card for our photojournalism services. We’ll be revising the design regularly as the pile runs out, updating them with other examples of our photographic work. Our original card design didn’t use any photographic elements as we hadn’t started shooting cars as our business yet – plus we were wanting them to represent not only photography and automotive journalism, but graphic design, copywriting, web design and much more as well.

We reckon this design kind of covers all the bases and shows off some of our design skills at the same time. Hope you like it and we hope we get the chance to hand you one of them at some point, too!

Hosking Industries offers commercial and private photographic services, specialising in the automotive and music industries. Even if you don’t think your car or bike is good enough for a full feature in a magazine, we can still shoot your pride and joy just as if it were going into one; making it look as glamorous as the vehicles you see in print on newsstands all over the world.
