07 Jan

Our photo shoot on Ricci Camilleri’s 1978 Holden LX Torana sedan made the front cover of issue 6 of Holden Heroes (aka Xtreme Holdens) magazine! It’s on sale now, so go check it out!

Powered by a tunnel-rammed, Pro Flo-built 355ci stroker Holden V8, the sedan is making around 358rwhp and had no trouble turning those meaty 285 rear tyres for our cover shots. Be sure to pick up Holden Heroes magazine to catch the massive nine-page feature spread (with pull-out poster).

Lifemusicmedia.com recently published our live review and image gallery from Dead Letter Circus‘ headlining show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre, supported by sleepmakeswaves on December 19, 2014. Read our review below and CLICK HERE or on the thumbnails above to see the full image gallery:

What a way to close out the gigging year: a headlining shot from Dead Letter Circus at Sydney’s venerable Metro Theatre, supported by sleepmakeswaves. Sydney’s 4-piece instrumental act sleepmakeswaves are an interesting proposition, given the lack of a front person. Yet despite the unconventional post-rock style, in the vein of recent acts like Scale the Summit and Russian Circles, the band is keeping the audience’s attention easily – not doubt via their combination of soaring crescendos and delicate, intricate twin-guitar interplay. Tonight is certainly the perfect Aussie prog’ tonic for a hard, working year.

Feature Car: Kim Smith’s Holden VY Commodore Ute

22 Dec

Kim Smith’s Holden VY Commodore ute, also known as ‘Wildfire’, has been a regular fixture on the East Coast car scene for about a decade. It has already been featured in a number of magazines, including Street Commodores, but after the tragic death of her son Matt a few years ago, Kim took some small solace in the ute, giving it a make over and incorporating a tribute to Matt via some excellent new murals along the flanks. In issue 232 of Street Commodores, Kim’s ute makes a return and you can read the entire story there, on-sale now!

Sneak Peek: Jason Hill’s VN Holden Commodore

05 Dec

Here’s a sneak peek at Jason Hill’s turbocharged LS-powered VN Commodore, photographed for Street Commodores magazine. We’re just about to sit down and write up the story on this beast. It sounded like Hell was coming to breakfast on the day of the shoot – which also coincided with a huge electrical storm in Jason’s hometown of Newcastle, NSW.

Feature Car: Dave Andrews’ HB Holden Torana

18 Nov

Issue 66 of Xtreme Holdens was recently released with our photo shoot on Dave Andrews’ tough little HB Holden Torana inside. The HB is a bit of an icon of the scene, originally built in in the late 1980s and competed successfully throughout the 1990s before disappearing. Dave found the car, a long-time fan, bought it, and now considers himself the custodian. Not that he’s letting that stop him from having some fun. The SBC that was in it has been sold, with a big cube SBC going in its place. Be sure to pick up issue 66 of Xtreme Holdens to read all about it.
