Winning: Four Silver Awards at 2014 AIPP NSW State Competition

02 Jun

The 2014 AIPP Epson NSW Professional Photography Competition took place a couple of weeks ago in The Rocks, Sydney. Hosking Industries’ Ben Hosking entered six of his automotive images into the Commercial category of the competition – the first time he’s ever entered a photo competition. In the audience to watch the judging process, he watched as four of his six entered images were scored 80 or higher to receive Silver Awards (70-79 points equates to ‘professional standard’, 80-84 = Silver, 85-89 = Silver with Distinction etc). The other two images were in the high 70s.

This was enough to place Ben as one of two finalists in the Commercial Professional Photography category! He’ll now be entering the four Silver award images into the 2014 APPAs (Australian Professional Photography Awards) to see how they go on the national stage. Below are the four winning images. Visit the AIPP WebsiteIt is with great pride and Hosking Industries announces the news that Ben Hosking has been accepted as an Accredited Professional Photographer by the AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photographers). The process included submission of a number of works for judging by a panel of his peers and will see Ben having to undertake regular skills improvement and attend seminars each year to maintain his membership (known as the continuing professional development program CPD). This ensures the skills base and professionalism of AIPP members continues to grow.

Established in 1963, the AIPP follows two main objectives: to promote the profession of photography and enhance the skill and knowledge of professional photographers. In their own words, “We are proud to say that, nearly 50 years after our inception, using an AIPP accredited photographer is still the best assurance you can get that your chosen photographer is a professional, skilled in the art of photography.”
