Feature Car: Daniel Craft’s 1964 EH Holden

16 Jul

We posted an image of the front cover of issue 4 of Holden Heroes magazine this week, featuring images from two of our photo shoots. one of those shoots was of Daniel Craft’s 1964 EH Holden station wagon and we can bring you more samples from that shoot now.

Daniel’s wagon has been built largely at home by Daniel himself – a guy that boasts qualifications in both vehicle mechanics and panel beating. It’s an impressive car and we hope you’ll go check out the whole story in Holden Heroes magazine, which is on sale at newsagents now.

Feature Car: Dennis Legg’s 1964 EH Holden

17 Jan

The latest issue of Holden Heroes magazine went on sale this week, featuring our photo shoot on Dennis Legg’s tough 1964 EH Holden sedan, known as FAT640. You can find it at all good newsagencies now.

This shoot marks the second time we’d used a light painting technique to capture the main exterior shots on a feature car shoot and we’re pretty happy with the results. We’ve now used this technique on subsequent shoots, refining the process each time. So, unfortunately, for the strobist fans, the only shot to use flashes is the engine bay shot, but we’ve included the lighting info on that one for anyone keen.

Feature Car: Craig Lockhart’s 1964 EH Holden “Crewman”

09 Nov

Now for something a little different! Craig Lockhart owns what is probably the ONLY vehicle of its kind in the world in the form of this 1964 EH Holden ute. It boasts a stretched and massaged phantom body style, resembling the much more modern Crewman that Holden released with the advent of the VY model some years ago. You can read all about it and see some build shots in issue 50 of Brute Utes magazine, which is due to go on sale any day now.

It’s powered by a VT 304ci injected 5L V8 engine and features custom interior trim as well as immense detail no matter where you look; including under the car where everything has been painted and smoothed to a high sheen. Even the stainless exhaust system has been polished. Be sure to check it out when the magazine goes on sale.

As always, you’ll find our photos on Flickr complete with EXIF data and lighting information, however only the detail shots used any artificial lighting. The exterior shots were all shot using nothing but Mother Nature’s wonderful lighting from above. Sorry to all the strobist fans out there. Here’s one from the archives… We originally shot the Sacilotto’s incredible EH ute, known as CLASIC, way back in the tail end of 2010. It finally sees the light of day in the upcoming Brute Utes magazine, issue 47, together with the story we wrote on the car. Drenched in custom mauve metallic paint and powered by an L67 factory supercharged V6 and 4L60E gearbox, it’s a refreshing combination of styles and parts that originally landed the car in the prestigious Top 10 at Summernats 21.

No matter where you look, this car oozes attention to detail and you can read all about it when issue 47 of Brute Utes goes on sale very soon. For now, sit back and enjoy some samples from our photo shoot, with all images available as FREE desktop wallpapers in 1680 resolution.
