Feature Cars: Phill Lander’s VW Syncro and Doka

09 Feb

Our photo shoot on Phill Lander’s VW Syncro and Doka is out now in issue 41 of VW Magazine Australia. Be sure to pick up a copy at your local newsagent and check it out.

Phil’s Syncro T3 was bought brand new in 1990 and has a tiny 58,000 original kilometers on the clock! It’s truly a museum piece, despite Phill driving it all over the country when he first bought it. The Doka was a tradies work hack and has couple hundred thousand on the odometer, but you wouldn’t know it. It’s also in pristine condition and drives like a dream.

Feature Bike: Nathan Moses’ 1950 Harley Davidson

27 Feb

Our photo shoot and feature story on Nathan Moses’ cool retro 1950 Harley Davidson appeared in issue 20 of Wild Aussie Choppers (aka Ultimate Choppers). Nathan bought the bike from the USA and shipped it over for less than he could have built it for here. He tells us that, luckily, the bike came as good as, or better than advertised. Nice one!

Boasting a ’49 Springer front end, 84ci stroker twin and enough retro style to win anyone over, the bike enjoys an eight-page spread in the magazine. Be sure to check it out, on-sale now!

As always, we’ve got a series of FREE desktop wallpaper images for you to enjoy and strobist fans will find our lighting information and EXIF data on each image’s caption, too. Simply CLICK HERE or on the thumbnails below to visit our Flickr page where all the goodies lay in wait for your visit.

Feature Bike: Stef Niceski’s 1954 Triumph Thunderbird

15 Feb

Sadly issue 21 of Wild Aussie Choppers (aka Custom Choppers) is the last to come out. On the bright side, it contains our feature story and photo shoot on Stef Niceski’s 1954 Triumph Thunderbird, pictured here! Be sure to check it out, on-sale now.

Shot at the very cool 1346 Venice function centre in Waterloo, NSW Australia, Stef’s Trumpy was built over a period of two years “and a million beers”. The basis of the project was a partially disassembled 1954 Thunderbird that Stefan found in an old shed, complete with a tomato plant growing over it. You’d never know it today.

It’s Our Birthday! Hosking Industries Turns 1

01 Feb

Today marks the first birthday of Hosking Industries. Founded on February 1, 2010 the company was started to house the many freelance activities of its creator Ben Hosking.

Having spent the previous seven years working full time for Sydney magazine publisher Express Publications and having recently left the company to work on his own; Ben chose the company format to allow him the potential to expand over the following years into any shape he wished – hence the relatively ambiguous company name. So far his activities have spanned the realms of performance automotive publishing, music journalism, graphic and web design, photographic and printing services and even the odd guitar lesson.

Our first 12 months have positively flown by in a whirlwind of success we couldn’t have dreamed and our blog has done exceptionally well. So thank you to all who’ve stopped by to check us out, download some free texture images or keep up to date with what we’ve been doing. You can bet we’ll have plenty more for you over the course of the next 12 months!

2011 will see dozens more feature cars photographed and written by Hosking Industries as well as other photographic excursions like portraiture and weddings, not to mention private car shoots. We’ll have another year’s worth of free texture images and we’ll also be endeavouring to continue our relatively short lived news stories on the automotive and music worlds – and anything else that takes our fancy.

So cheers and thanks for your support so far. We look forward to bringing you plenty more in 2011!

Ben Hosking
