Feature Car: Dave Steele’s Holden HQ Monaro

29 Apr

My shoot on Dave Steele’s immaculate HQ LS Monaro was featured in the April 2019 issue of Street Machine. It was the first time I’d light painted a car in a studio environment and I’m pretty chuffed with the way it came out – particularly being a white car in a white room.
Powered by a stout 427ci Dart-based SBC, the car is heavy with attention to detail and sits with its smooth arse well into the weeds (which I love!).

Feature Car: John Trunzo’s Phantom Holden FJ Coupe

22 Jan

This is the second time I’ve been lucky enough to get up close and personal with John Trunzo’s incredible phantom Holden FJ coupe, known as the Draggin’ Coupe. It was originally built in the 1960s and has been heavily sectioned and converted to a two-door coupe. It was featured in last month’s issue of Just Cars.

Feature Car: KNG57L VZ Holden Commodore SS

11 Sep

I had the pleasure of spending a few hours in the Russo Performance workshop some months ago, committing three of their recent Commodores to ones and zeros for Street Machine magazine’s LSX Tuner special issue. This one, a VZ Holden Commodore SS, makes over 1050hp at the treads thanks to a massive 88mm BW turbo.

James’ awesome 454ci turbo LSX made the front cover of the new issue of Extreme Street magazine, which went on sale this week! Built for skids, this thing lit up its ET Streets like they were cheese cutters during our shoot. Be sure to pick up the mag and read all about it

Plant Tour: A Look Inside Holden's Elizabeth Plant (circa 2006)

25 Mar

I was digging through a bunch of old files looking for stuff for my portfolio when I came across these old pics I took with my mobile phone during a press launch for the launch of the VE back in 2006.

Most of these images were never used anywhere, but they’re interesting for anyone who loves Commodores or wonders what it’s like inside a state-of-the-art vehicle assembly plant. They show quite a bit of detail, including Holden’s then-new rebuilt process line and what at the time was never-before-seen HSV VE front guard treatments.

They also feature the last of the VZ utes to roll through the production line, some wearing VE colours like Ignition. I hope you find them interesting.

There’s about 50 images in total that are free for personal ute only. CLICK HERE to see the entire gallery:
