Feature Bike: Mark’s Custom 127ci Kraftech Chopper

05 Dec

Issue 19 of Wild Aussie Choppers (aka Crazy Choppers) is on sale NOW and features our photo shoot and feature story on Mark’s awesome 127ci rigid-frame Kraftech chopper, pictured here. Built in his workshop at home, this is his first bike build and from the discussions we had with him, it won’t be his last. That’s a good thing when you take the time to drool over the liquid black paint and gleaming chrome on this big-cube beast.

Feature Car: David Chami’s LS1 LH Holden Torana

16 Aug

Issue 47 of Xtreme Holdens is due out soon and contains our photo shoot and feature story on David Chami’s cool self-built LH Holden Torana. Powered by a late-model LS1 alloy V8, this unassuming beast mixes classic Holden appeal with modern Holden power.

In a potentially perilous turn of events, Dave actually bought the car on the internet, sight unseen. Luckily for him, everything turned out OK and the car still wears that same coat of paint today. While the trim is original, everything under the car has been changed and you can read all about it in issue 47 of Xtreme Holdens.

As always, we’ve got a raft of FREE desktop wallpaper images for you to view and download on our Flickr page. Strobist fans and camera buffs will also find our lighting info and EXIF data there, however the exterior shots were primarily shot using natural available light. Feature Car: Steve Trappell’s HG and HT Holden Monaros

21 Jun

It isn’t every day you get the chance to shoot the cover of a national magazine and we’re very happy to show you a handful of images from our recent photo shoot on Steve Trappell’s beautiful 1970 HG and 1969 HT GTS Monaros. We shot them together in Steve’s hometown of Newcastle, NSW and they appear on the cover of the July 2012 issue of Australian Classic Car magazine.

Steve had only recently completed an extensive and perfect restoration on the brown HT GTS when we photographed it, while the silver HG Monaro is still awaiting its turn under the knife and wears its share of patina from years of love and use. Thanks to the horrid damp conditions over the preceding summer, it took us a good couple of months to actually get these two in front of the lens.

While conditions weren’t ideal, we reckon the shots came out pretty nicely. In addition to the full colour versions you see pictured here, we also supplied the magazine with some washed-out, faded and rather vintage-looking options which they ended up using; including for the cover itself and the centre poster. As always, we’ve got a selection of desktop wallpaper sized images for you to view and download on our Flickr page and strobist fans can read our lighting information there, too. Feature Car: 496ci 1932 Ford for Heavy Duty Hotrods Magazine

12 Jan

Heavy Duty Hotrods magazine, published by Express Publications, have published my photo shoot on Ben Moglia’s purple 1932 Ford hotrod. It’s a mean machine, with a 496ci BBC V8 lurking up front and some meaty rubber out back.

We shot it near Ben’s home town south of Sydney using an array of Canon Speedlite flash equipment and the main exterior shots are composites from four to six images to get the lighting exactly right.

CLICK HERE or on the images below to view them in a higher resolution. You can even download a 1280-res desktop image for your computer, FREE!
