Feature Car: Peter Webb’s 1928 Ford Roadster ‘RED28R’

22 Sep

More and more of our feature shoots are starting to appear in their respective magazine titles and this selection of six images are of Peter Webb’s tasty 1928 Ford roadster. We originally found Peter’s hot rod at the Stanwell Park ‘Tug in the Park’ show.

Running Ford power, Peter’s roadster is detailed to the hilt, top to bottom and features a nice set of billet wheels, carbon fibre dash insert and cream leather trim, including a functional dickie seat. You can read all about it in issue 10 of Heavy Duty Hot Rods magazine, due on sale any day now.

For interested parties, you’ll find strobist information on each relevant image caption on our Flickr page. Just click on the thumbnails below or CLICK HERE to view the entire gallery. You can also download FREE desktop wallpapers after the jump, too!

Wicked Wednesdays: FREE High-Res Sydney City Images

21 Sep

We don’t often deviate from our commitment to provide you all with free texture images, but when we do, it’s only so we can bring you some free stock images! This week we’ve brought you some FREE high-resolution stock images of Sydney. However, instead of uploading a bunch of cliched shots of the harbour bridge, opera house or other tripe, we thought we’d look for some more uncommon elements of the city and this is what we’ve found.

You’ll see some nice examples of the juxtaposition of old and new building design primarily, but also some other cool stuff we hope you can use either in design projects or perhaps simply as inspiration for a future design project of your own. Enjoy!

As always, Hosking Industries high-resolution texture images are FREE for personal and commercial use. However, you may not resell, repackage or redistribute these textures or generally pass them off as your own for monetary gain etc. Use them in your design projects, but don’t use them for commercial gain.

Feature Car: John Walker’s 1932 Ford Coupe ‘TUF32F’

16 Sep

Today we bring you a selection of six images taken during our photo shoot on John Walker’s brilliant pale yellow 1932 Ford coupe hot rod TUF32F for Heavy Duty Hot Rods magazine in Australia. John is a long term member of his hot rod club, the Drag-Ens and has owned and built many rods over his life time.

John built this ’32 himself in the shed at home and drove the wheels off of it during our shoot. As you can see from the photos, it sports a classic combination of small-block Chevrolet V8 full fenders and choice of wheels. You can read all about it in issue 10 of Heavy Duty Hot Rods, on sale soon.

For now, help yourself to some FREE desktop wallpaper versions of the images by CLICKING HERE or on the thumbnails below (the link goes to our Flickr page).

Feature Car: Ashley Ducker’s Holden VS Calais ‘PINK5L’

14 Sep

A selection of 7 images taken during our photo shoot on Ashley Ducker’s sweet pink Holden VS Calais known as ‘PINK5L’. We shot it for issue 188 of Street Commodores, which is due out soon.

It’s great to see more females getting actively into the modified car scene here in Australia and her Calais can easily put it to most guy’s cars with its injected 5L V8, detailed and smoothed engine bay and custom interior. Pop the boot and you’ll be greeted with a sweet install, too!

You can download all these images as desktop wallpapers for FREE by clicking HERE or clicking on the thumbs below.

Any strobist information is included on each image’s caption, so head on over to our Flickr page and check ’em out!

Live Review and Gallery: Suicide Silence @ Bald Faced Stag, Sydney (10.09.11)

14 Sep

Our review and photo gallery from the recent Suicide Silence show at the Bald Faced Stag Hotel in Sydney, Australia has just been posted online at theAUreview.com. Click HERE or the image below to check it out in full.

We’ll be posting higher-resolution versions of the images onto our Flickr page as per normal after a few days, so stay tuned for the link!

Mitch Lucker, Mark Heylum, Chris Garza and the rest of the Californian deathcore band really put on a great show considering the switch to a smaller, sweatier and generally crappier venue. Despite that, we got some really good shots and we’d love to hear your thoughts on them, and the review.
