Cover Car: Michael Moit’s Ford TD Cortina

05 Feb

I recently got to photograph a bit of a legend on the Sydney car scene from over the last 30 years. Michael Moit’s Ford TD Cortina used to terrorise drag strips like Oran Park where the car would wheelstand thanks to its hi-po Clevo and Windsor V8s – the latter of which took the car to a best of 8.4sec @ 155mph.
It recently scored a new lease on life with a makeover and a twin-turbo conversion for the original Clevo-headed Windsor. Making 850hp, this combo is incredibly considered the test mule before building a more serious bottom end down the track.
The shoot was featured on the cover of the 2020 Street Machine Yearbook.

Cover Car: Image Conversion’s 1964 Ford XM Falcon

04 Jan

My photo shoot on the Image Conversions’ Ford Falcon appeared on the cover of the December 2020 issue of Street Machine magazine!
Powered by a 1000hp Barra turbocharged straight six, the ’64 vintage sedan is full of high-tech mechanicals and interior components – right down to the one-off custom 3D-printed LED tail light assemblies.

Feature Car: Tomi Vatavuk’s 1974 Ford XB Falcon

20 Nov

If there’s a nicer XB Ford Falcon out there, I certainly haven’t photographed it! I got to photograph Tomi’s incredible ‘SOKOL’ Falcon sedan for the October issue of Street Machine. Perhaps the best thing about the XB – which includes a custom rear splitter/air dam, smoothed engine bay and plethora of custom billet and carbon fibre pieces – is that Tomi was able to do a lot of the build himself!

On top of being able to hang out with such a nice car, and a nice owner (who also happened to play guitar and like heavy music!), was being able to shoot the car in such a clean workshop. I personally have never seen such a clean work space. Especially given that besides handling custom work, it also serves as a regular servicing workshop. Look at that floor!

Feature Car: Gary Taylor’s 1965 Ford XP Falcon

04 Oct

This is the second time I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this silver XP Ford Falcon. I previously shot the car for Street Fords magazine when old owner Andrew owned the car. Today, the car is owned by Gary Taylor and he’s spent plenty of time tidying it up and putting his own stamp on it. This photo shoot featured in the September issue of Street Machine.

Cover Car: Mario Ciarrocchi’s VH Valiant Charger

18 Sep

I had the pleasure of visiting the Hills & Co workshop in Taree NSW, for the first time in a few years to photograph Mario Ciarrocchi’s incredible elite-level VH Valiant Charger for the front cover of Street Machine. Powered by a 540 big-block and boasting all the modern electrical wonders you could imagine (including a CANBUS system), this car is on another planet in terms of custom car building.

Feature Car: Dave Steele’s Holden HQ Monaro

29 Apr

My shoot on Dave Steele’s immaculate HQ LS Monaro was featured in the April 2019 issue of Street Machine. It was the first time I’d light painted a car in a studio environment and I’m pretty chuffed with the way it came out – particularly being a white car in a white room.
Powered by a stout 427ci Dart-based SBC, the car is heavy with attention to detail and sits with its smooth arse well into the weeds (which I love!).

Feature Car: V Resto Garage’s 1970 Ford Falcon

17 Apr

Don’t be fooled by the typical GT-clone appearance of this brand new build from V Resto Garage – there’s nothing typical about the fit, finish and performance of this 1970 Ford Falcon. Under the bonnet lies a 514ci monster that’s housed within a flawlessly smooth engine bay. That same level of detail weaves throughout the car and combined with the 22in Simmons FR rims (12in wide at the back) and you’ve got one hell of a muscle car! It was featured in the April 2019 issue of Street Machine.

Feature Car: Jason Sandner’s Holden LX Torana

14 Nov

Jason Sandner’s incredibly-detailed Holden LX Torana appeared in the November 2018 issue of Street Machine. It is the second time I’ve been able to get up close and personal with the car and it never fails to blow my tiny mind. Jason has done an incredible job of building the car, which is highly detailed, both on top and bottom. powered by a 378ci alloy Donovan SBC, it’s also potent!

Feature Car: Ben Brown’s 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle

05 Mar

Despite a rough start thanks to a half-asses reality TV project build quality, Ben brown turned things around and ended up with a sweet, blown and billet Chevy Chevelle all his own. The 383ci SBC-powered coupe was featured in the January issue of Street Machine and will appear in Super Chevy soon.

Cover Car: Bill Skyrm’s 1969 Valiant VF Pacer

20 Feb

I had the pleasure of photographing Bill Skyrm’s immaculate 1969 Valiant VF Pacer sedan late in 2017 for the cover of a local magazine. It still runs the iconic slant six, backed by a Borg Warner 3-speed manual and makes about 150hp.
