Some people love to saw F-U to the purists. Hunter Valley resident Warick Meldrum is one such car enthusiast whose VF Valiant Regal has an 8.6sec answer to anyone wondering where the Mopar power is.

Feature Car: Edin Dervisevic's HK Monaro

632ci Big-Block Street Car

Edin Dervisevic’s HK Monaro won the N/A Horsepower Heroes title at Summernats 37. The HK GTS achieved this monumental number with some other impressive numbers… like 632ci of big-block beauty. Edin says you won’t find a long list of race-specific parts inside the engine. Instead, they went for reliability, with plenty of oil and water working its way through the combo to ensure effortless street cruising.

My photo shoot appeared in the February 2026 issue of Street Machine.

Feature Car: Nathan De Vries Chevrolet Chevelle

640rwhp 440ci Dart LS Chevelle

Nathan De Vries Chevrolet Chevelle originally came to me as a private photo shoot a couple of years ago. As soon as I saw it, I knew I’d pitch it to the guys at Street Machine for a feature story. It was a super nice, tough and forward-thinking American muscle car that took elements of the US Pro Touring style and made it his own.

Street Machine were keen, however they were even more keen to see Nathan’s future plans come to fruition. These included some bigger and swider rear hoops, some further engine mods and other refinements.

Come late 2025 and Nathan called me to let me know it was ready to go. We hooked up for another shoot and here are the results.

Feature Car: Andrew Broadhead's HJ GTS

Blown 427ci LS from Pro Flo and DTK

Some seven years ago I photographed a neat HJ GTS as a private shoot. It ened up being run as a mini-feature in Street Machine. At the time, the owner had just bought the car from WA and wanted to celebrate the occasion with some nice photos.

Fast forward to late 2025 and Street Machine tasked me with capturing a fresh creation from Pro Flo and Down Town Kustoms that had recently been unveiled at Summernats. Lo and behold, it was the very same car – although it looked drastically different now and has a new owner.

Today, the car is razor sharp and wears a distinctive custom PPG brown metallic paint. Inside, it boasts a superb custom trim from Mick Carter and a blown 427ci LS-based monster that  made a cool 1200hp on the engine dyno.

Feature Car: Emma Mullin's Datsun 1600

585hp WRX-Powered Very Hot 4

COPDAT was a well-known Datsun 1600 when it graced the front covers of both Hot4s and Zoom magazines back in the day. Since then it has changed hands to Emma Mullins who has more that surely made the car her very own.

Today, the car is barely recognisable from its former self, with unique Mirage Lake metallic paint, Simmons FR18s and, well, just about everything else, too.

These days you’ll find an Subaru EJ25 jammed into the tiny engine bay, backed by a Toyota 5-speed and Datsun IRS. Oh, that’s not forgetting the beautiful tan leather tirm!

Feature Car: Mark Psaila's HR Holden

530rwhp Turbo 2JZ Street Car

Long-time purveyors of my photography may remember one particular rusty HR sedan running a turbo RB30 some 10 years ago. That was shot for Xtreme Holdens magazine (RIP) and belonged to Mark Psaila.

I was recently contacted by Street Machine to photograph Mark’s latest build which is an extensive facelift on his other well-known HR known as STOCK6. This machine was once bright metallic orange and was a regular on the Sydney car show and cruise scene.

Today, it’s in a beautiful shade of gold and runs a tough turbocharged 2JZ combo making 530rwhp at the 15x15in rears.

Feature Car: Ricky Tom's VH Commodore

1000rwhp Turbo LS Commodore

I first photographed Ricky Toms’ VH Commodore over 10 years ago for Street Commodores magazine when it was a supercharged Holden V8-powered street car.

Fast forward a bunch of years and his HITMAN-H is now a ballistic 1000rwhp turbocharged LS-powered and tubbed monster. Not much of that original build remains today and ths latest incarnation appeared in the January 2026 issue of Street Machine magazine.
