I’ve had a shop front on Redbubble.com now for some 14 years and somewhat shamefully admit to having no knowledge of Etsy’s power or size, until very recently.

I got to end the year with a bang, shooting my second front cover in a row for Street Machine magazine. Not yet seen by the public at the time, the car was unveiled at Summernats this month.

With the introduction of a new bass player in the shape of Dan Johnson, it was time again to shoot some new promo shots. Out came the beauty dish, C-stand and a couple of gelled speedlights. Next minute: done 🙂
The band were standing in front of its huge backdrop, however the guys covered half the logo, so I grabbed the logo file and blended the lower half over the band and thought it looked pretty cool.Â

Paul Bennet and Glenn Graham – the two primary sky aces behind Paul Bennet Airshows – were in need of some fresh promotional images. These two guys are some of the most experienced aerobatics pilots in the country and I was able to shoot them in front of their respective aircraft.
Lighting was supplied primarily by two Godox AD600 flashes; the key light using a medium-sized, gridded hexagonal softbox and the rim light using a standard reflector.

I had the pleasure of photographing Newcastle-based children’s author Emily S. Smith recently. Emily has a series of excellent books available, with more on the way. If you or your friends/family have small children, I definitely recommend checking out her work, which is available through retailers like Harry Hartogs.
We got together around the grounds of her home, utilising a beautiful old brick wall and one of the many hedges lining the property, together with a single large softbox and reflector. I hope you like the results as much as I do.
