Feature Car: Mark Cirillo's 1974 Holden LJ Torana

Mark Cirillo’s 1974 Holden LJ Torana was living in his dreams for almost 20 years before he got the chance to actually own it. Now that it’s his, Mark has restored the LJ Torana coupe – transforming it into his perfect aussie muscle vision, including a tough 355ci Holden stroker and Ford 9in rear end.

Incredibly, Mark was able to preserve the car’s decades-old paintwork and the use of the Mawer three-piece 13in rims just adds to to the retro appeal. Step inside Mark Cirillo’s 1974 Holden LJ Torana and the vintage theme continues thanks to the largely GTR-spec’ upholstery.

The car was featured in the November issue of Street Machine magazine.

Feature Car: Paul Knowles' Holden VK Commodore

I photographed Paul Knowles’ Holden VK Commodore years ago for Street Commodores when it was blue-over-silver and powered by a hot Holden V8. Several years later and the car has been fully rebuilt thanks to a horror smash.

Now resplendent in full white paint with contrasting black Simmons FR rims, the car looks totally on-trend. The old cream interior has been replaced with an all-black leather and suede affair to match the Simmons and the Warspeed 403ci L98-based stroker. Where most opt for a blower or turbos these days, Paul Knowles’ Holden VK Commodore is all motor, but looks the business with that tunnel ram poking through the bonnet, topped by a pair of 750cfm Holley carbs.

Out back, a braced, sheet-metal 9in houses 35-spline axles and 4.11:1 gears which should cope with any punishment Paul dishes out onto those poor FR20s and Pirelli P-Zero tyres. The car was featured in the November 2019 issue of Street Machine.

Feature Car: Tim Saliba's Holden VP Commodore

Tim Saliba’s Holden VP Commodore was featured in the October issue of Street Machine. I’d shot the car once before for another magazine, but Tim has since made some further improvements, both to the parts list but also driveability improvements. The airbagged, 393ci Holden V8-powered sedan looks sweet in its HSV Senator body kit and riding super low on the Simmons FR19s. Inside, it’s all covered… in shale-coloured leather, that is. Dash, door trims, Recaro seats, centre console – everything is drenched in leather. Even the boot install that also boasts a pair of 12in subs is leather-clad. Tim Saliba’s Holden Commodore is one gorgeous machine!

Cover Car: Joe Tyler's 1964 EH Holden Wagon

I was presented with a fresh challenge for this photo shoot on Joe Tyler’s – one that I’d been meaning to do more of for years: car-to-car tracking shots. The brief was to capture the balls-out, blown 416ci LS3-powered ’64 wagon on the street for the front cover of Street Machine. A ton of research on locations, technique and a borrowed lens with image stabilisation later and this is the result. The car appeared on the front of the October 2019 issue.

Feature Car: Jason Pellett's Holden HT Kingswood

Jason Pellett built this pristine 1970 HT Holden Kingswood as a tribute to his late brother Michael. Powered by a 308ci Holden V8 within a clinically clean engine bay, the clean black and white theme is carried throughout the car, which is a great cruiser for Jason, his wife Ashley and twin boys. It was featured in the September 2019 issue of Street Machine.

Feature Car: Jarrad Rogers' Holden LH G-Pak Torana

My shoot on Jarrad Rogers’ blown Holden 308ci-powered LH G-Pak Torana appeared in the August 2019 issue of Street Machine. I got to shoot it in one of my favourite locations on the mid-north coast of NSW, too! There aren’t many places like this left standing.

Feature Car: Peter Robson's Holden VE Ute 'UDLO5E'

Late-model Commodores haven’t come in for the same level of customisation as most older models… well, with exceptions. Like Peter Robson’s crazy VE Commodore ute for example.
With a big turbo on its 403ci stroker, suicide doors, custom trim, smooth engine bay and 24x12in billets under its tubbed arse… this is one very custom late-model Commodore and it was featured in the August 2019 issue of Street Machine.

Feature Car: Dave Steele's Holden HQ Monaro

My shoot on Dave Steele’s immaculate HQ LS Monaro was featured in the April 2019 issue of Street Machine. It was the first time I’d light painted a car in a studio environment and I’m pretty chuffed with the way it came out – particularly being a white car in a white room.
Powered by a stout 427ci Dart-based SBC, the car is heavy with attention to detail and sits with its smooth arse well into the weeds (which I love!).

Feature Car: Stephen Sherry's Holden LJ GTR Torana

Shephen Sherry’s LJ Holden GTR Torana, known as GRNADE, is a fresh build but is already well known in the scene and with good cause – it packs a 680hp, 6/71-blown 383ci SBC-powered punch! I got to photograph the car for the March 2019 issue of Street Machine.

Cover Car: Owen Rice's Holden CV8 Monaro

I photographed Owen Rice’s beautiful Holden CV8 Monaro burnout car for the front cover of the return issue of Street Machine Commodores. This is so much more than a simple skid car. It’s also a fully fledged show car, complete with custom interior, detailed undercarriage and smooth engine bay. There is detail everywhere! Oh, and it makes almost 1200hp from its 400ci, 8/71-blown stroker.
